Fall Update

The board met in early September to make plans for the Fall. We will have a Forum on the Ballot Questions on Wednesday, Oct. 17 at 7:00 pm at the Shrewsbury Public Library. We will have Speakers for and against Question 1 and league members will present the arguments for and against Questions 2 and 3. The LWVMA supports Questions 2 and 3 but has no stand on Question 1.

Marj Albright organized a Voter Registration Day at the Grafton High School on Sept. 19. Our volunteers worked with the students to register on-line. Several 17 year-olds pre-registered which is a great option for young voters. Missy Hollenback plans to organize a Voter Registration Day at the Shrewsbury High School soon.

The LWVMA now has the materials needed for the State-wide study on the Massachusetts Ballot Question Process. If we have some interest from our members, we can participate in this study. The first step is for a study committee to be formed. Please go to lwvma.org for details on this study.

Since the 100th Anniversary of the League of Women Voters in coming up soon, we will plan a program on the Woman’s Suffrage movement for either the Spring or Fall of 2019.
